Any DJ’s wishing to enter PALME DJ of the Year 2011 must be aware of the rules and regulations, so please read them carefully!

All DJ’s must be at the Venue at
01:00 PM on Tues 26th April

All DJ’s must be at the Venue at
01:00 PM on Wed 27th April

All DJ’s must be at the Venue at
01:00 PM on Thu 28th April
  • Regardless of the time of your set, please make sure you turn up at the time stated above for your group! It is considered unprofessional to be late! You will lose points.
  • You will be given a badge that clearly identifies you as a competitor. You must wear this badge at all times inside the venue.
  • DJ’s are not allowed to consume alcohol at any point before or during the event! Any DJ that does so will be automatically disqualified from the competition. Sorry sounds harsh but this by decree of the venue and can also incur a hefty fine from Dubai Police!
  • DJ’s managers, friends or entourage are not allowed to enter the DJ booth or control room area at any point during the event! Again this is an instruction from Dubai Police!
  • DJ’s are expected to know how to set up when they are called to start their 10 Min set. If you make a technical mistake at any point during your set, you need to correct the mistake yourself and no points will be deducted. We will not correct any technical mistakes for you, so if you freeze points will be deducted.
  • Keep in mind that any music you bring must not contain any swear words! Keep it clean and use the radio versions of tracks. Same goes if you want to MC, we don’t want to have to wash your mouth out with soap!
  • Please check that all your music has similar output levels. Points will be deducted if your output levels are all over the place between tracks.
  • DJ’s are not allowed to fake it with pre mixed tracks (To specify this; we don’t want to see 1 channel up and two or three artists are singing all at the same time).
  • If you are using CD’s make sure that the CD is ejected & replaced with the next CD. If you are using music from a USB we will make sure that you are choosing different tracks and not just playing the same track.
  • Just to make it more fair, the CD must contain a max of 2 tracks and the competitor must eject the CD every time he or she puts the fader down which means track number 1 has been used, fader is down, CD is ejected, put the CD back in then select track number 2...)
  • The reason is the USB holders will have more time by selecting the next track where the CD will take approximately take 7 to 10 seconds reading the data after re-entering it to the player.
  • Don’t mishandle the equipment. DJs that readline / peak and do not adjust the mixers immediately will be automatically disqualified.
  • For hygiene purposes DJ’s must bring their own headphones.
  • No additional instruments (tablas or guitars etc.), Midi Controls, Samplers or any other musical stuff that can help the competitor to bring any additional sound.
  • Sound has to be created live! Burn your intros outros etc on a CD and play it live...
  • DJ’s interested to participate should upload their tracks as they register to pre-qualify & compete [CLICK HERE to register]
See that wasn’t so bad was it? We want all participating DJ’s to have the best possible experience from competing at PALME DJ of the Year 2011… see you there!
